Oregano is a flowering plant from the same family as mint, the Lamiaceae family. It is commonly used as an herb to flavour food.
Oregano is rich in antioxidants such asthymol, carvacrol, limonene, terpinene, ocimene, and caryophyllene which gives the herb its flavour and scent. Oregano exhibit potential anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce inflammation in the body and support a healthy immune system.
Some studies suggest that Oregano has anti-fungal and antimicrobial properties, and great as natural food preservative. Oregano oil may also help treat wound health, athlete’s foot, or toenail fungus.
